On Thursday, December 12, the College celebrated its final mass at St Vincent’s church presided over by Fr Joti Bilowalu. We were joined in this celebration by Sister Genevieve Walsh representing the Sisters of Charity and Mr Tony Andreacchio – Representing the St Vincent de Paul. Mrs Casey created a beautiful liturgy and we were twice blessed with the music provided by our choir led by Mrs Bowyer and instrumental ensemble led by Mrs Lee. Our Year 10 school leavers were acknowledged with special gifts from the College and the Sisters of Charity, the newly elected 2020 Peer Support Leaders received their badges and the 2020 Years 8-11 SRC leaders were also presented.
Another highlight of the mass was the presentation of the Christmas hampers to the president of the local chapter of the St Vincent de Paul association. During the past few weeks, homeroom circles across the school have been bringing in food items, toys and gifts to donate to the annual St Vincent de Paul Christmas appeal. The results of the appeal have been outstanding; with hampers overflowing with festive cheer! I would like to thank the entire Bethlehem Community for their support of this very important appeal. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Ms. Taouk and Mrs Casey who coordinated the appeal and Bethlehem mums Mrs Jane Farhat, Mrs Janine Hannigan and Mrs Prue Ibrahim and Year 11 students who put together the baskets and added some Christmas touches ready for collection and distribution by the local chapter of the St Vincent de Paul.
